How can Woman’s Democratic Club members be a part of this Blue Wave?  Drawing on the Club’s proud traditions, the Political Activism and Civic Engagement members will be engaging in a variety of ways to elect our Democratic candidates in Maryland this November.  We know that turnout will be key to Democratic victories.  A lesson we sadly learned four years ago, which led to Larry Hogan being elected Governor of Maryland.  We can NOT let this happen again.

WDC Event | New Member Breakfast

More than 80 new WDC members attended our annual New Member Welcome event on July 21. Our membership has doubled in the past two years, with this year’s addition of well over 300 new members—a number that exceeded all expectations—necessitating a new venue and format for this annual event. Held at the Oakville Grille in Bethesda, the delicious breakfast buffet was followed by a comprehensive program filled with useful information designed to fire up our new members to charge ahead to ensure that Democrats win in November!

WDC President Fran Rothstein opened the program by welcoming all attendees, stating that the meeting had four goals:

WDC Education Committee | “Heather Booth Changing the World” Screening Emphasizes Importance of Political Organizing

On May 30, 2018, WDC hosted lifelong activist Heather Booth and screened a new film about her life, “Heather Booth: Changing the World.”  The event was led by Education Co-Chair, Brenda Wolff; attendees included WDC members and their guests, Democracy Summer fellows, and community members.

Heather is a rock star in the political community as a champion for critical issues in our society. She has been an organizer for over forty years, starting in the civil rights and women's movements and continuing today.
