WDC proudly hosted Greg Miller, Washington Post national security correspondent and two time winner of the Pulitzer Prize, at its sold-out luncheon on February 5, at the Courtyard Marriott Chevy Chase. His topic was “Trump and Impeachment in the Era of Post-Truth”.
Miller’s prize-winning works include the exposure of US surveillance programs by Edward Snowden and his disclosure of Russia’s interference in the 2016 election, unveiling key roles and issues in the Trump Administration leading into the impeachment process.
Miller quickly moved from the history of Trumps involvement with Russia from the first call by Michael Flynn to the Russian Ambassador December 29, 2016, to the cover-up by the White House, to Trump’s ability to hook into his base, prevail over facts and his attacks on establishments and the press. He aligned Putin’s view that no one can be believed and that truth and reality is what Putin says it is with Trump’s and went further to speak to Trump’s protection of Putin’s actions. He ended by reminding us how important it is to cling to the truth, be nice to lowly reporters and in Nancy Pelosi style, shredded his speech!
Mr. Miller stayed to sign copies of his latest book, “The Apprentice: Trump, Russia and the Subversion of American Democracy”.
