2019 Legislative Plans Are Underway
The WDC Advocacy Committee has started planning for the upcoming legislative year. The Committee will focus on State and County legislation that is directly relevant to women and their families in six Priority Issues Areas - Aging, Affordable Housing, Children and Youth, Criminal Justice and Public Safety, Health, and Working Families.
WDC will be presenting testimony on its State legislative priorities at the November 14 Montgomery County State Delegation priorities hearing. All are welcome to attend this hearing that starts at 7pm in the 3rd Floor Hearing Room of the Stella Werner Council Office Building, 100 Maryland Avenue, Rockville. The 2019 Maryland State Legislative Session convenes on January 10.
To help advocate for WDC’s priorities, please sign up to be part of WDC’s Advocacy Alert Team. The more of our members who take action by phoning or emailing a legislator, the more effective WDC will be in its advocacy efforts. Specific information is provided in each Advocacy Alert.

An afternoon Advocacy 101 workshop is also offered for those interested in learning how to be an effective grassroots lobbyist. For more information and to register, click here.
