Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities

Every Wednesday Voter Registration Training

10:00-11:30 am and 3:00-4:30 pm | 18753 N Frederick Ave, Gaithersburg, MD 20879
Would you like to become certified to register voters? Voter registrar classes are held weekly in the offices of the Montgomery County Board of Elections. Free and open to the public on a walk-in basis; advance registration not required. Evening classes may be arranged with 10 days notification if you have ten or more people attending. Please call Laletta Dorsey, 240-777-8509, to make arrangements.

Silver Spring Progressive Action:

WDC member Doreen Paster is a founder of Silver Spring Progressive Action. Their purpose is to register lots of Democratic voters in swing states and have them turn out to vote. RSVP to Doreen at if you would like to help SSPA. Most events will take place in Silver Spring. Address will be provided upon RSVP.

Monday, July 8 , 7:30 PM: Postcards. We will supply the postcards. Bring a pen. We’ll be focusing on Dan McCready’s US House race again.

Thursday, July 18, 7:30 PM: Postcards. We will supply the postcards. Bring a pen. We’ll probably be focusing on Texas for this one. We will pick whatever’s most meaningful at the time. Right now, our other top tier states are Arizona (astronaut Mark Kelly is challenging the R incumbent Senator), Maine (Susan Collins has several great women challengers), and Georgia (many races in play).

Tuesday, July 30, 7:30 PM: Fundraising 101. Why it’s important: For better or worse, money is very important in campaigns. Many of us are somewhat uncomfortable with fundraising, so we have asked Debra of NOPE to show us how to do it in a non-awkward, non-confrontational, and low-key way. And if we are able to raise funds for Jamie Raskin, we can help him spread his influence far and wide. Come to find out more – no pressure or obligation!

Weekend of September 7-10: If you’re interested in a field trip, mark your calendars for the weekend of September 7-10 , when we’ll have a group going to Charlotte NC to get out the vote for Dan McCready’s September 10 election. It’s a 7 hour drive and so it won’t be for everyone… but maybe it will be for some.
