Join WDC for our September luncheon with Congressman John Sarbanes has represented Maryland’s Third District since 2006.

The Congressman is Chair of the Democracy Reform Task Force, and is leading the fight in Congress to break candidate dependence on corporate PACs and special interests. He is the author of HR1, the For the People Act, which E.J. Dionne of the Washington Post called, “Perhaps the most comprehensive political-reform proposal ever considered by our elected representatives.” HR1 passed the House on March 8, 2019, and aims to empower American voters, strengthen our nation’s ethics laws and fix our broken campaign finance system. The Congressman serves on the powerful House Energy and Commerce Committee, as well as the House Oversight and Reform Committee which is the main investigative committee in the U.S. House of Representatives. It has authority to investigate the subjects within the Committee’s legislative jurisdiction as well as “any matter” within the jurisdiction of the other standing House Committees.
