Chuck Rosenberg will be WDC’s first in-person speaker since the onset of COVID. Mr. Rosenberg last spoke to the Club on the day the Mueller Report on the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 Presidential election was released. This time, he will share his views on ways the activities of the US Department of Justice (USDOJ) have impacted democratic governance in the years since his last talk.
Mr. Rosenberg is currently a legal analyst for MSNBC and NBC, where he comments on the most important and complex national security, law enforcement, and legal issues. In addition, he is senior counsel for a Washington DC law firm and teaches national security law and policy at the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service. He hosts “The Oath,” an acclaimed podcast with more than 10 million downloads, and has written numerous articles for the Washington Post, USA Today, Time, NBC, and other outlets.
During a distinguished government career, Mr. Rosenberg held senior positions at USDOJ, including as the US Attorney—the chief law enforcement officer—in the Eastern District of Virginia and in the Southern District of Texas. He has also held senior positions under two FBI Directors, the US Attorney General, and the Deputy Attorney General. Most recently, he served as Administrator of the USDOJ’s Drug Enforcement Administration, a post from which he resigned in 2017. He was appointed to senior law enforcement positions under both President George W. Bush and President Barack Obama.
