The death of long-time Speaker of the House of Delegates, Mike Busch eclipsed the usual Sine Die* celebrations of bills passed and regrets about good bills for which “time ran out.” WDC joins Marylanders across the state, regardless of party affiliation, in mourning his passing.
In the next few weeks, we will have many opportunities to learn about the 2019 legislative session. PACE Committee Organizes RCV (Ranked Choice Voting) Demonstration at Leisure World Democratic Club
Chalk up another first for WDC’s energetic PACE Committee, co-chaired by Barbara Noveau and Nancy Walker. PACE worked with both RCV Montgomery and DoTheMostGood MoCo to show 70 Leisure World (LW) Democratic Club activists what Ranked Choice Voting is all about. LW organizer Sandy Zimmett and Club Chair Roger Blacklow spearheaded LW’s participation.

Newly elected Congressman David Trone celebrated the diverse freshman class, the Democratic House majority, and Speaker Pelosi’s shrewd leadership at a WDC luncheon at Normandie Farm on March 20. Surveying the challenges confronting our nation, he stressed that through action and compassion, Democrats can restore hope for the future.
Catastrophes surround us, inviting paralysis. The president’s policies and conduct, white nationalism, economic inequality, climate change, decaying infrastructure, and the opioid epidemic (to name a few) reflect years of disinvestment—and the despondency they induce. Only by finding pragmatic solutions for all Americans, he believes, can we turn our nation around.
