I’m often glad that I live in Montgomery County, but this election season, I wake up every day feeling bone-deep gratitude. Montgomery County is at the center of the fight to turn out enough Democrats to take back the governor's mansion from Larry Hogan and elect Ben Jealous, and to continue our strong Democratic representation all the way down the ballot. I’m grateful as I see the Maryland Coordinated Campaign gear up with a strong Montgomery County presence, with two campaign offices already open and three times the campaign staff compared to 2014, leaving nothing to chance this election cycle.  

And I’m especially grateful to know that because the fight is in Montgomery County, WE are empowered to make the change, and I know that Montgomery County Democrats are ready for the challenge. We were born ready, people! We are the part of the Wave that is the Deepest of Deep Blue!  

Here are some upcoming opportunities to flex your Rosie the Riveter campaign muscles:

• PHONEBANK AND CANVASS: Come knock on some doors and make some calls! The WDC Political Activism and Civic Engagement (PACE) Committee is helping to organize several opportunities with the MD Coordinated Campaign and Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee, such as a Montgomery County High School Canvass Day on Oct 6, a Parents and Kids Day of Action on Oct 21, and several District-specific Days of Action throughout September and October (Please sign up here and also consult the MCDCC Volunteer Opportunities calendar for more details).  

• SPREAD THE WORD: Get to know Ben Jealous by taking a look at his first ad, and spread the word about his strong leadership. (And please consider making a donation to his campaign so we can continue to get the word out!)

• COMFORT CAPTAINS: Help by providing snacks and other food for campaign offices so volunteers can stay fueled while they work to turn out voters.
